At Hoteles Solaris de México, we are clear about our commitment to both society and the environment, which is why we contribute to the common good at every opportunity we have.

Did you know that at the Solaris Hotels in Cancun, we have desalination plants, also known as desalters?

Being one of the first hotels in Cancun to have this technology that helps the environment, as it is one of the most interesting ways to contribute to the global problem of drinking water scarcity.

Additional fact: Although 70 percent of the world's surface is covered by water, only 2.5 percent of the available water is fresh, while the remaining 97.5 percent is saltwater.

Today, on World Water Day, we want to answer one of the most frequently asked questions from our guests... Is the water offered at Solaris Hotels in Cancun potable? The answer is... Absolutely!

To be more specific, the water you will find in your room (bottles) and the water in restaurants, as well as the ice, is purified water. And most interestingly of all, the water is purified at our GR Solaris Cancun hotel, which is responsible for supplying drinking water bottles and jugs to our sister hotels, Royal Solaris Cancun and GR Caribe by Solaris.

Everything starts by transforming 200m3 of saltwater into freshwater through a reverse osmosis process, using special membranes that pressurize the water so that all the salt sinks to the bottom, leaving only fresh water. Once this is finished, the freshwater goes through different filters, which results in it being potable.

The result of this process is reflected in the water we have in our Cancun hotels. Every day, 4,500 bottles of water of 500 ml each are produced, as well as 70 jugs of 19 liters each.

In this way, by making the most of the resources we have, we can offer "homemade" purified water for all our guests and collaborators.

On this day, we want us all to raise awareness that water is an essential resource for life, and therefore we must take actions to preserve this vital liquid.

We are a company that carries out sustainable actions!
