Reading, an open door to an enchanted world

By: Regina Sámano

Reading is one of the most important and useful activities that human beings perform throughout their lives, which is why we present the most outstanding points about it below:

- It is an extraordinary tool for intellectual work, as it puts the mind into action and sharpens intelligence.

- It defines us by who we are in front of the rest of human beings.

- Through reading, human beings can begin to receive knowledge formally and insert themselves into the EDUCATION process.

- There is reading for PLEASURE or out of OBLIGATION to meet a work or educational goal.

Reading also requires certain points and these are:

- ATTENTION

- COMMITMENT

- CONCENTRATION

- REFLECTION

And we cannot forget that reading also allows us to:

- ENCOURAGE OUR IMAGINATION

- REFLECT ON ABSTRACT IDEAS OR CONCEPTS

- GET IN TOUCH WITH OUR LANGUAGE OR OTHERS

- IMPROVE OUR SPELLING OR WRITING

- AND INCREASE OUR KNOWLEDGE AND OUR CULTURE

IT IS OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE TO ENCOURAGE CHILDREN TO MAKE READING A HABIT. AS IN THE FUTURE THEY WILL BE BETTER PREPARED, KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT DIFFERENT REALITIES, MORE TOLERANT, AND AWARE OF DIVERSITY.
