It's not all about the beach
Trips14/07/2017Cancun, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, is enchanting for its landscapes filled with blue. And it's no wonder, as not just any place is surrounded by the Caribbean Sea, with its beautiful shades of blue, and a vast lagoon, "Nichupté Lagoon," home to mangroves and great biodiversity.
If you want to admire the best panoramic view of the area, go to the hotel zone, also called Cancun Island, a strip of land situated between the sea and the lagoon. In addition to contemplating the Nichupté Lagoon from afar, why not explore its mangrove-lined canals and engage in a wide variety of sports activities?
Nichupté is actually a lagoon system that measures more than three thousand hectares and is composed of seven bodies of water, among them the Bojórquez Lagoon, the Mediterráneo Lagoon, and the Lagoon of Love, named for its heart shape. Likewise, Nichupté communicates with the Caribbean Sea through two channels, the Sigfrido and the Nizuc. The main attraction of the lagoon is its mangroves, a Natural Protected Area by the Mexican government. These ecosystems are of vital importance, as they protect the coasts of Cancun from erosion and the wear resulting from storms and hurricanes. As if that were not enough, the mangroves reduce the level of pollutants in the water, favoring biodiversity and preserving the nearby reef systems of Isla Mujeres, Punta Cancun, and Punta Nizuc.
The Nichupté Lagoon is home to four types of mangroves that provide refuge to countless wild species: red, black, buttonwood, and white mangroves. Endemic plants and animals inhabit them, such as crocodiles, leopard frogs, iguanas, and white turtles.
By staying at one of our hotels in Cancun, in addition to being able to enjoy the turquoise blue and white sand beaches, you will also be able to spend incredible moments and live an experience at the private marina that we have especially for our guests, open every day from 9 am to 4 pm, equipped with kayak service, pedal boats, sunfish, and windsurfing as part of your All-Inclusive.
Don't know how to swim? Don't worry, as a safety measure, you will wear a life jacket while performing any activity in the water.
If you go with friends, have fun with the kayaks, seeing who reaches a point first. Or if you are with your partner, there is nothing more romantic than a relaxing ride on our pedal boats.
In the Nichupté Lagoon, you can also perform other activities, such as sport fishing, and, if you are more adventurous, perhaps you might be encouraged to do sports with more adrenaline such as Flyboard, water skiing, the famous Jungle Tour, or rent a waverunner to ride among the mangroves and contemplate the natural beauty of the ecosystem and perhaps you might be lucky enough to see a crocodile....It all depends on how much adrenaline you want to feel! And if you are traveling with your partner and want to live a romantic experience, do not hesitate to book through our Sol-Ha agency, the best romance tour in Cancun "Columbus Lobster Dinner Cruise," where you can live a very special evening surrounded by beautiful landscapes, live saxophone music, glasses of wine, and a delicious lobster or steak dinner.
