Beach games to have the most fun on your vacation

Beach volleyball fun at Solaris: Corporativa, with players and ocean views.

There are many ways to have fun at the beach, from playing a sport like beach volleyball, completing a challenge to find hidden treasure, flying a kite, or using one of the different game kits designed specifically for the beach.

Spend quality time with your family and friends during a beach trip by playing different games and activities while enjoying the sun, sand, and sea. For this reason, we share some options for you to have maximum fun during your next beach vacation, just remember to wear your sunscreen!:

What can you play at the beach with friends?

You can play different games, whether by improvising or buying some of the kits available on the market, specifically designed for the beach, such as the following:

1. Tidal Ball
To play this game, you need a kit with golf-sized balls and a small sand shovel. The idea is to dig a hole in the sand and a curved trench behind it. The next step is to walk 10 paces away from the hole to make a second hole.

This way, there will be a team or opponents on each side. Each team takes turns rolling or throwing the ball toward the opponent's hole or trench.

A ball placed inside the trench zone is worth one point, and a ball in the hole is worth three points. The goal of the game is to score as many points as you can, but you can vary the scoring and the final objective.

2. Spikeball
Similar to beach volleyball, but in this case, you bounce the ball on a mini-trampoline instead of over a net. Two teams of two players each compete in this game. Each team takes three turns to bounce the ball on the net and return it to the other team.

If your team does not return the ball to the net after three touches, the other team receives a point. You can learn all the rules and variations on the game's website in Mexico.

3. Frisbee Toss
A game of Frisbee at the beach is not complicated to organize; all you need is a flying disc and to set up your teams at a certain distance. This game is a great alternative if you visit the beach with your pet.

What are the sports played at the beach?

There is nothing like forming a team with your family or friends to play one of the following sports, which, although they require equipment such as balls, rackets, or nets, will provide you with hours of fun at the beach:

  • Beach soccer
  • American football
  • Beach tennis (Racket)
  • Beach volleyball
  • Water polo
  • Badminton

Tip: Be careful not to hurt yourself when running and changing direction abruptly on the sand, as it is easy to twist your ankle on this surface.

What to do at the beach with the family?

1. Beach ball race
This game is ideal for children, and you will only need a sturdy beach ball. Players must sit on top of the beach ball, balance their bodies, and reach the finish line when the signal to start is given.

2. Treasure hunt
The game can be very simple but fun, as the idea is to hide an item somewhere on the beach, leaving clues at different points, with riddles, challenges to complete to receive an answer, or maps drawn on the sand. The game does not have to be limited to a single item as a treasure; you can create a map with several treasures so that the person who accumulates the most is the winner.

3. Flying a kite
Flying kites is something you can plan well before your beach day so that all your family members can participate. You can also make a handmade kite at your hotel.

Tip: What do you need to make a kite easily and quickly? To make it without much trouble, you need a plastic bag, thick paper, two wooden sticks of approximately 50 and 30 centimeters, glue, and string.

4. Hopscotch in the sand
Similar to Tidal Ball, you need to draw circles and numbers on the sand to create the playing surface. Each circle corresponds to a point value; for example, the largest circle can be worth one point, a medium one five points, and the smallest can be worth ten points.

Best of all, you can throw all kinds of objects, from shells and small stones to balls, to accumulate points.
